Privacy Policy
Our full legal documents are being reviewed by a qualified lawyer before we accept any real DNA file. Rather than publish a draft with gaps in it, we are showing you the commitments that are already decided and already built into the service.
What we have already committed to
Your file is encrypted with its own key
Every uploaded file gets a unique encryption key. Nobody can read one file by obtaining another.
Deletion destroys the key, not just the record
When you ask us to delete, we destroy your file’s encryption key. That makes the data permanently unreadable, including in backups of our file storage. Database backups holding the key are kept for at most 30 days, after which recovery is impossible by any means.
We keep your file for three years unless you say otherwise
Three years from upload, then automatic deletion. If you opt in to updates, we keep it until you withdraw that consent, and we re-confirm with you every two years.
Two separate consents, neither pre-ticked
Processing your genetic data and keeping it for future updates are separate decisions. The second is genuinely optional and your upload works without it.
We never sell or share it
Not to insurers, not to employers, not to advertisers, not to a research database. There is no version of this service where that changes without asking you first.
This is not medical advice
DNA Checker is informational and educational. It is not a diagnosis, not a clinical test, and not a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional.
